Structured Cabling - ETISALAT & DU

Structured cabling is a comprehensive network of cables, equipment, and management tools that enables the continuous flow of data, voice, video, security, & wireless communications. Instead of PtP connections, structured cabling uses distribution areas that provide flexible, standards‐based connections between equipment, such as connections from Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) to closet distribution elements (splitters), horizontal distribution of cabling from closets, and zone-based Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) to copper user outlets.

Not all services, devices, and users truly require the full bandwidth that the traditional enterprise LAN can deliver. In fact, Microsoft’s recommendation for the modern enterprise to optimize cloud user experience is 500 Kbps per user. Aligning space, energy, and lifecycle costs with future network bandwidth requirements is possible by selecting the appropriate physical network architecture.

Passive Optical Network (PON) design gives you the flexibility to right-size connectivity across the enterprise LAN – inside buildings and across an extended campus. These optical LANs align space, energy, heat, noise, radiation, and cost with your real bandwidth requirements, and can be highly effective at meeting customer needs.

The following requirements must be applied to all containment systems:

  • The containment system must be designed such that installed cables do not exceed the minimum specified bend radius.
  • All metal containment parts must be free from sharp edges and should be earth bonded;
  • Telecom riser openings must be sealed with a suitable fire retardant material;
  • Cable trays must be easily accessible in common areas to facilitate any future provision of additional cables;
  • Any cable trays that are in publicly accessible areas less than 4.8 m above the floor must be covered;
  • For all containment systems, a minimum separation must be maintained from sources of electromagnetic interference.

Each and every new buildings in Dubai has to follow TRA regulations for structured cabling. We follow those regulations and obtaining the NOC in less duration.

Major concern according to TRA in Dubai are;

  • Provisions for Etisalat & Du mandatory
  • Multicore fiber has to be provided between MTR & IDF
  • Each Room / unit should have Etisalat and Du provision
  • Splitters must be provided in MTR for Etisalat & Du
  • Minimum three number of Cat 6 run in each unit/Room
  • OTDR & Power test report to be provided
  • Copper earthing, Isolators, GI trunking and 2 x 4" dia lead pipe.

Dubai Structured Cabling Compliance: Crucial Rules for Acquiring NOC Approval

Dubai requires that structured cabling follow strictly to TRA requirements in order to receive NOC quickly. Maintaining predetermined bend radii for cables, earth bonding all metal components, and caulking telecom riser apertures with fire-retardant material are among the requirements. Future extensions are made easier by easily accessible cable trays; those located in publicly accessible places below 4.8 meters need to be covered. It is essential to maintain sufficient distance from sources of electromagnetic interference. These safeguards provide dependable telecommunications infrastructure throughout new building projects by ensuring that structured cabling installations in the United Arab Emirates are safe, effective, and compliant.
