Planning an Intrusion Alarm Installation in Dubai: A Site Checklist

A useful alarm survey starts with how the premises operate: where people enter, which areas need protection and who should respond to an alert. Preparing these details helps you compare proposals and avoid discovering operational gaps after installation.

Map protected areas and normal activity

Mark doors, rooms and other areas to discuss with the installer. Explain operating hours, cleaning visits, deliveries and any areas used while the rest of the site is closed. Tell the installer about existing equipment and problems such as repeated unwanted alarms. Do not assume every room needs the same sensor or operating arrangement.

Decide who will operate the system

List the roles that need to arm, disarm or manage the alarm. Discuss whether the premises need separately controlled areas and how staff changes should be handled. Agree a handover that teaches authorised users the operating sequence, how to recognise a fault and whom to contact for support. Access details should be handed over securely.

Make the alert response explicit

Ask what happens when a detector triggers: which alert devices operate, which communication equipment is included and who is expected to respond. Where monitoring or connectivity is part of the project, identify the provider, scope and recurring costs separately. Ask how communication or power faults will be indicated and what checks are included during commissioning.

Confirm project requirements before ordering

For a SIRA project, ask the installer to review the applicable premises requirements before selecting the alarm grade, equipment and communication arrangements. Refer to the official SIRA information centre for current material. A general online checklist does not determine the approval requirements of an individual site.

Request a complete installation scope

The quotation should identify the panel, keypads, detectors, alert devices, cabling, communication modules and installation work included. Clarify testing, user instruction, documentation, warranty, maintenance and any approval support. Ask how an existing system will be assessed before components are reused.

Plan CCTV and alarms together where useful

CCTV provides footage while alarm sensors raise alerts. Discuss both needs during the survey, but do not assume that separate systems will integrate without checking compatibility and the proposed design.
